Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
The Subclass 189 visa is a permanent visa for skilled workers who are not sponsored by an employer, state or territory government, or family member. It allows you to live and work anywhere in Australia as a permanent resident. This visa is points-tested and requires an invitation to apply through SkillSelect.

Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
The Subclass 190 visa is a permanent visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government. It provides permanent residency and, importantly, state or territory nomination can provide an indication of where your skills and experience may be in demand in Australia. Like the 189 visa, the 190 is points-tested and requires an invitation to apply.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491)
The Subclass 491 visa is a provisional visa for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area. It allows you to live, work, and study in regional Australia for up to five years and provides a pathway to permanent residency through the Subclass 191 visa, provided you meet the residency and income requirements.
