The Medical Treatment (Long Stay) Visa for people who are: • planning any medical treatment or consultations in Australia except surrogate motherhood Entitlements: As the holder of a Medical Treatment (Long Stay) Visa you can: • visit Australia for a period of between 3 and 12 months Applicants must meet certain medical requirements before being granted their visa.
Please note that if you are intending to travel to Australia for any type of medical treatment, no matter how quick, you should apply for a medical treatment visa rather than a tourist visa. Holders of medical treatment visas are usually not permitted to make subsequent on-shore applications for visas such as Australian Skilled Migration or other permanent residency visas. |
