Tourist visas are for individuals seeking to visit Australia for a holiday or to visit family and friends.   Tourist visas are valid for anywhere up to 1 year.  Tourist visas are four tourism only, you will not be permitted to work or engage in any business acitivites while in Australia.  This includes business meetings and investigations.  Anyone wishing to conduct business in Australia should apply for a business visa . 

Depending on your age, length of stay and proposed activites, applicants for a tourist visa must meet certain health and character requirements.   

Please note that tourist and business visas may allow multiple entries to Australia. Not all tourist and business visas can be extended. Holders of tourist and business visas are only permitted to lodge on-shore applications for visas such as Australian Skilled Migration or Spouse Migration in limited circumstances.
